After Christmas

It's hard to believe another Christmas has come and gone. It was a very blessed Christmas and I am so thankful to have been able to spend time with my family.

I'm very thankful to God for sending Jesus to us to be our Savior. That is the greatest gift ever and one I never want to take lightly. I want to love God more and serve Him more in 2011.

May God bless each of you in the new year!

Christmas eve

Christmas eve. What a beautiful night! The rush is over. Stores are closed. Traffic is quiet. The best gift we could ever receive was given to us over 2000 years ago when God sent His Son Jesus to us.

Merry Christmas to you all!

Christmas is coming...

I'm still not sure I can get used to doing a blog! It would be nice to have a camera so I could add some pictures to make it a litle more exciting, but I forgot to put that on my Christmas list, so I don't think it will happen. For now, I guess I'll just write.

This Christmas feels a little different than before. This is my first Christmas without my mom. I am so thankful that I have precious memories of many happy Christmases with my mom. Momma enjoyed being with family on Christmas and she always loved telling about Christmas was when she was growing up! She liked to see lights and hear the music and she especially loved all the holiday treats! Cookies were her favorite! One year Momma went with us to the Cincinnati Zoo for their Christmas light festival and Santa was there. We have laughed so much over how Momma flirted with Santa and he flirted right back with her! I miss her so much this Christmas.

I have a dear friend who recently lost her mom and another friend who called today to say his mom only has a matter of time. My heart goes out to them.

On a brighter note, I'm truly thankful that Jesus is the reason for the season! He is worthy of all our praise!

A Christmas blessing!!!

Sometimes the best Christmas presents aren't the ones that come in pretty paper and bows.

Today I got a wonderful Christmas present that would be hard to beat! Both of my granddaughters sang on stage at church (with the "Kingdom Kids") and Kayla played a piano solo at a special service this evening! If you know much about my granddaughters, you have to know that this is huge. I could not be more proud of them! What a Christmas blessing. And what a precious memory!

I read a beautiful promise in Psalm today that says that God will never forsake us as long as we are seeking Him. Thank You, God!

1 week til Christmas

It's hard to believe that Christmas is almost here. Don't you sit and wonder sometime about the first Christmas? Dennis, Kendra and I were talking today about how hard it had to be on Joseph and Mary; thinking of all the ridicule and questions they had to face. And Mary probably had to deal with people questioning her and doubting her the entire time Jesus was on the earth. And don't you wonder about the shepherds visit to Bethlehem? And the inn keeper? And the wise men? I just know I am so thankful to God for Jesus and for the miracle of His birth! He IS the reason for the season!

This was a super day. The most special part was having all our family together for lunch! We went to Bob Evans and it was a good meal...even if the service was quite slow (new restaurant as of this week). We also did some Christmas shopping. Now we are just relaxing and preparing for church tomorrow!

Remember to keep Christ in Christmas!!!

A day off work!

Having a day off work is such a treat! I was off today and so Kendra and I spent the morning doing a little Christmas shopping and having lunch out together (Panera Bread).

I've been anxious to hear about the birth of my niece's 10th child today, a girl. I just got word that they will wait and induce her on Tuesday, so they have a bit of a longer wait that they had anticipated. She will almost be a Christmas baby!

I might get used to doing this blog thing!

Thankful to God today for the safety He gave us while we were out and about!

Getting started!

My girls have been telling me for quite a while that I need to blog, so while watching a Christmas movie, Kendra gave me a quick lesson. Actually, I think she did the whole thing while I nodded approval! She even uploaded a few of her pictures for me to post. Sadly, they may be the only pictures I ever get posted unless Kristen, Cliff or Kendra are here to help!

We saw the new Narnia movie last night and I would highly recommend it! There are some parts that might frighten younger children, so make sure you check it out on Plugged In Online to see what they have to say. But the movie sure has some powerful references to God and it is definitely worth seeing. I'm not sure that 3-D enhanced the movie at all, however!

Looking forward to Christmas and so thankful to God for sending Jesus to us all!

first post on my new blog!

This is my grandson, isn't he cute?
